People get tattooed for different reasons. Sometimes it is becasue they like a particular design, a specific tattoo artist or because someone that they look up to has the same tattoo. Some tattoos have deep meanings that actually tell a story about you just for having that particular design branded on your body for the rest of your life. The swallow tattoo is one of those tattoos that has a significant meaning historically by sailors who were showing off their sailing experience. Much like tear drop tattoo has meaning to those prisoners who are doing life in a penitentiary.
The swallow, or sparrow tattoo is derived from British origin dated back to the early days of sailing. Sailors would get an image of a Barn Swallow, usually tattooed on their chest, hands or neck. The swallow tattoo, according to the legend meant that the sailor had traveled over 5,000 nautical miles; a sailor with two swallows meant that he had traveled over 10,000 nautical miles.
The 27-year-old starlet Amanda Bynes, popular for her roles in a number of television shows and on the big screen has admitted to having a nose job. Bynes has taken to the Twitter highway to reveal that she did, in fact, have a nose job several years ago. Bynes says that she hates when media outlets use old photos of her, gushing, “I look so much prettier in my new photos.”
“Intouch used a photo from years ago on their cover and I hate it! The reason I’ve asked all magazines and blogs to stop using old photos of me is I don’t look like that anymore! I had a nose job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes. I wasn’t going to tell anyone, but I look so much prettier in my new photos that I don’t want old photos used anymore!” she tweeted May 5.
“I’m so sick of magazines and blogs using old photos! When will they stop?” Bynes continued. “I will never look like that again! Having surgery was the most amazing thing for my confidence!”
Last week in a report put out by the Los Angeles Times, there has been a 4,378% rise in the number of women seeking “upper arm-lifts” since 2000. The surgeons interviewed in the report did not give the exact reason for such a astronomic rise in the amount of women seeking this particular cosmetic procedure it did state that women “are paying closer attention to the arms of female celebrities.” One of the most popular arms being those of the First Lady Michelle Obama.
The idea of celebrity-inspired cosmetic or plastic surgery is not a new one by any means of the imagination. The drastic increase in women seeking cosmetic procedures has prompted the website Celbuzz to ask the question: what would the perfect celebrity body part Frankenstein look like? Continue reading

The Octopus tattoo is the perfect tattoo for creative flexibility as far as tattoo design is concerned. The tattoo artist can design this sea creature to be wrapped around arms and legs, draped over shoulders and wrapped around torsos and backs. Add to that the Octopus’s chameleon like ability to change color to match their surrounds, and their wide variety of colors. They are ideal designs to incorporate into existing tattoos and maritime scenes and they also can symbolize a huge range of characteristics and virtues.
Naturally intelligent, creative and flexible, the octopus also acquires its mystique from the watery environment in which it lives. It is a master of camouflage, and can literally disappear before your eyes. And if that tactic doesn’t work to evade oncoming predators, the octopus will eject a cloud of black ink to make it’s escape. It is all part of the mystery and sense of wonder that surrounds this eight-tentacled creature.
